Make a Cheerful Tassel Necklace for Spring

Here’s my first finished project of my spring wardrobe challenge! You can find more info about that here. This necklace came together really fast and I loved how it turned out. The bright colors make me so ready for spring, and the fringe is so on trend, I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of this necklace this season. I’m hoping to eventually get my hands on some silk thread for making my fringe, because I think it’ll be a little swingier than the embroidery floss…BUT the embroidery floss has so many great colors and is much more readily available that it still works well for this project.

Beaded Tassel Necklace

Supplies:

  • Glass Beads
  • Embroidery Floss
  • 2″ Eye Pins
  • Jump Rings
  • 30″ Chain
  • Sharp scissors
  • Round nose pliers
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Super glue

Step 1: Make Tassel

Leave sleeves on embroidery floss and cut entire skein in half. Take a thread from the half you’re not using. If needed, use a yarn needle to thread it through the loop. Tie the thread in a double knot on top of the looped floss. Dab knot with tiny bit of glue to secure and trim ends when dry. Take another scrap bit of thread and tie around the neck of the tassel. Wrap the ends a couple times and tie a knot again. Secure with glue and trim ends. Open jump ring and slip under tied thread on top.

Step 2: Thread Beads on Pin

Thread 4 beads onto Eye Pins. Use Round Nose Pliers to loop straight end. (You will need another set of pliers to steady the eye pin) Wrap extra at the end around itself.

Step 3: Assemble NecklaCe

Attach jump ring from tassel to loop on eye pin. Attach another jump ring to the opposite loop. Secure this jump ring to chain.
