Crochet Heart Coffee Cozies by Tater Tots & Jello
Welcome to the first post on my new blog! As a Parks and Recs Fan (FYI: a perfect series to binge on Netflix) I’ve always loved the concept of Galentine’s Day. “Ladies celebrating ladies”, plus brunch! This February 13th, I’ve decided to gift my gal pals by crocheting this coffee cozy pattern for them. Scroll down for the tutorial!
Galentine’s Day Coffee Cozy
- Size H Crochet Hook
- Worsted Weight Yarn (I used leftover Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek and I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby)
- Needle & Coordinating Thread
Chain 23 (If you crochet tightly, increase to 25…my chain 23 fits a grande Starbucks cup) slst in beginning of chain to make a ring.
Round 1: Chain 1. Hdc in each chain around. Slst to join in chain 1.
Round 2-7: Chain 1. Sc in next stitch. In same stitch begin sc3tog. *ch 1, sc3tog (inserting hook in the same st as the 3rd leg of the last sc3tog) Repeat from * until you’ve completed the round. Slst in chain 1 from the beginning of the round.
-As you complete rounds on the coffee cozy the stitches should line up, i.e. you should be crocheting the second stitch of the sc3tog into the second stitch of a sc3tog from the previous row.
Round 8: Chain 1. Hdc in each st around. Finish off and weave in ends.
The directions for the heart applique can be found here:

Use the needle and coordinating thread stitch the heart applique onto the cozy. I placed it so the seam of the cozy was centered on the back.
As a gift idea you can print the below galentines card pdf onto cardstock, cut out, and slide the coffee cozy on. Sewrella also has a more generic version you can find here.
Happy Galentine’s Day
